COFFEE TO WAKE UP!

What better way to start a Monday morning than a hot cup of coffee, that really wakes you up and kickstarts your week.

That's the message that McDonald's is giving through this extremely witty and creative ad for McCafe.

I just love the simplicity and the way the logo and coffee beans have been used, without trying too hard.

Well played McDonald's

MINIATURE SCIENCE

When you want to explain big issues, you should not make the topic complex. Instead you should simplify it so that everyone can understand it.

This is exactly what ExxonMobil did with a series of films under their campaign on 'Miniature Science', where they explained in a very simple way, extremely complex topics like:
  • Growing algae for Biofuels
  • Using landfill gas for Energy
  • Power Plant Conversion
  • Algae-fueled Engines

BBDO Worldwide worked on the campaign in USA and came up with a series of four films. Each one is easy enough for a school science student to understand. The treatment and the music of all four films have been kept consistent to build a strong connection to the brand and the campaign. This is such a great example of how communication should be done!

I am sharing one of the films 'Growing algae for biofuels' here:

However, if you want to see the other films, then the links are:

NO MORE KNOTS!

There is a certain power in the simplicity of a message in a picture. It does the job without trying too hard.

MTANS (Massage Therapists’ Association of Nova Scotia) in Canada came up with a brilliant campaign to educate people and bring awareness on the benefits of massage therapy. They chose items from regular life - ribbon, paper clip, pretzel to show how the body feels when it has knots all over due to stress, tension, fatigue or any other reason. The picture next to it then shows how the body would feel after a session of massage therapy. Very creative, quite efficient!

ASSISTANCE OR NO ASSISTANCE?

Shopping behaviour differs from shopper to shopper. Some shoppers prefer to get help and assistance while they are shopping while others like to browse on their own and then reach out for help only when they need it.

When it comes to beauty products, the shopping experience is even more personal, and hence some customers want assistance while others are happy to shop on their own.

Sephora understands this quite well and therefore, in a lot of their stores, it provides two kinds of shopping baskets (black and red). Shoppers can choose the basket based on their need. This allows the different shoppers to get exactly the kind of #retail experience that they want and it also gives a clear indication to the store staff on who needs to be assisted and who doesn't.

Such a simple and effective solution!

POWER OF VISUAL

21st Sept, 2019 was World Alzheimer Day. It was a day when people needed to be reminded that there are others who forget easily, and not only do they need to be reminded again and again, but they also need to be cared for.

Alzheimer Athens came out with a #print ad in Greece that gave out a strong message in a simple way. This is the power of a strong visual. It doesn't need to say much but the audience still understands.
