WORLD MANUFACTURING OUTPUT

There is a lot of talk around how the world will change, economies would behave differently and how manufacturing output would shift across nations due to various political and economic reasons.

Now what will happen in the coming months/years is difficult to predict, but what we can surely see is how the world's manufacturing output set-up is today.

1. 52% of the world's output is concentrated in Asia, coming from 8 countries led by #China at 4t (28% of the world total) followed by #Japan at 1t (7% of the world total).

2. Although, North America accounts for only 18% of the world's output, #USA occupies 16.65% of the world total, coming second after China.

3. Europe accounts for 22% with #Germany being equal to the next three nations in terms of output.

4. #India occupies the sixth rank and if it wants to grow into a super power, it will have to continue increasing its share further.

HISTORY OF PANDEMICS

'The world is a global village' - this quote hasn't had a far more significant impact than now, in this uncertain time when an event that started in one part of the world has raised its tentacles and reached all the other parts of the world as well.

In the last 100 years, the outbreak of #Coronavirus is the eighth time that the WHO has declared a pandemic.

However, if you look back into history over the centuries, as the human species has evolved and developed, pandemics have always been around - some big, some small.

Here are two infographics that will take you through the history of pandemics and the death toll of each one of them.

As is evident, with more and more advancement in medical science, we have been able to control these pandemics in a better way.

However, the first step always is
#Intent and #Action. That is what makes the difference.

We can overcome this one too if our intent is right and our actions then back that intent.

You and I have to work on it together. It is no more about them, it is about us!

BRANDS OF THE AUTOMOTIVE WORLD

If you have ever wondered which car brand comes from which company, then the infographic below can act as a ready reckoner.

However, do remember that this is the reality today. It may not have been the case in the past and it may not necessarily remain true in the future.

Let me explain by taking the example of Jaguar brand:
  • Jaguar started as a brand in 1922 under the ownership of S. S. Cars Limited made in association with Standard Motor Co.
  • The company became Jaguar cars in 1945.
  • In 1966, it merged with another company and became renamed as British Motor Holdings (BMH).
  • Two years later, another merger led Jaguar to become a part of British Leyland.
  • In the year 1990, Ford acquired the Jaguar brand and retained it till 2008
  • In 2008, Tata Motors bought Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford.
So it doesn't take long for brands to change hands and then sit under a different roof.

LETTERS OF THE ALPHABET

A couple of months back, when the news of Sundar Pichai becoming the CEO of Google's parent company Alphabet came out, all the media was covering this piece of new and going into the details of Sundar Pichai and his career trajectory .

However, not many know that the parent company #Alphabet actually owns a number of different companies and businesses across diverse industries and segments, and #Google just happens to be one of their biggest ones.

The infographic below will give you an overview of where all Alphabet has their presence in.

When I saw this infographic, I started looking at the beginning letter of each of these companies instantly. I wanted to see how many letters does the company Alphabet have in its company portfolio. In between these 16 companies, they already have 10 letters of the alphabet (C, D, G, J, L, M, S, V, W, X).

Let's see, if in future, under the leadership of Pichai, Alphabet expands further in creating a portfolio of #companies covering all the 26 letters of the alphabet or not.
