The letter shown below has been doing the rounds of social media since the past few days, from the time that a Twitter user @OriginalYoni put it up on his feed. Some of you may have seen it, some of you would not. So let me set the context of the letter for you:
Now I neither know the 86-year old gentleman nor do I know the seller. But when I read this letter, it triggered a few thoughts in my mind:A person sold his VHS player on eBay and a few days later, he got a heartwarming letter from the 86-year old shopper who thanked him for selling the VHS.
1. #Gratitude is such a great value that it should not be overlooked. It doesn't matter whether you know the person on the other side or not, if you feel like thanking him/her, then just do it. It will not only make you feel better, but will also make the receiver feel nice about his or her act. It is better to have thanked than regret it later.
2. #Perspective is so important. While the VHS player might have been an old piece of technology that the seller wanted to get rid of, the same product turned out to be a bridge for the old man that connected him with his youth and his memories from the past. So a non utility for one turned out to be a lifeline for the other. That is perspective!
